Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

Mock Band collects minimal information necessary to provide you the application and understand whether it is useful:

  • Email address: Collected only if you choose to subscribe to product updates. Email is not required to use the app.
  • Usage data: Analytics may record page visits, referrer origins, reviewed campaign labels from a tagged link, approximate location, device/browser information, and explicit product events such as starting audio, playback duration, input method, use of controls, presets and musical settings, dock tabs, sharing outcomes, installation, and signup steps. PostHog stores anonymous browser/session state in localStorage so return use can be measured. Page URLs sent to PostHog exclude query strings and fragments; campaign labels are checked separately. We do not identify analytics visitors or send email addresses, command text, voice transcripts, or scene content, scene names, imported filenames, or MIDI device names and note data. Automatic click recording and session replay are disabled. Analytics respects your browser’s Do Not Track setting.
  • Local Storage: Your scenes, settings, and preferences are stored locally in your browser. We do not have access to saved scenes or command history. Reviewed musical settings may be included in the usage events described above.
  • Session feedback: If you choose to send feedback, Mock Band opens an editable email draft with your browser/device string, current musical setup, connection state, aggregate command counts, and a short anonymous browser-session reference. Analytics records the reference, entry location, playback state, recent-command count, and MIDI-output state, but not the draft, your email address, command text, voice transcripts, or scene content. You can remove any detail before sending, and nothing is transmitted unless you send the email.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

  • Deliver optional product updates you requested
  • Understand activation, compatibility, and performance
  • Diagnose errors and improve the product

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is handled with care:

  • Email storage: MailerLite processes subscriber information and sends confirmation and update emails on our behalf.
  • Support and feedback email: Zoho Mail processes messages you choose to send to help@mock.band. Opening the draft does not submit its contents.
  • Browser Storage: All scenes, MIDI mappings, and settings are stored locally in your browser using localStorage and IndexedDB.
  • Analytics: PostHog receives reviewed public-page visits and the limited product events described above. Vercel Speed Insights measures performance. PostHog autocapture, session recording, surveys, heatmaps, automatic exception capture, and person profiles are disabled. Vercel may also process ordinary hosting and security logs.

4. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Request deletion of your email from our records
  • Request deletion of feedback or support correspondence
  • Unsubscribe from product updates at any time
  • Access any data we have stored about you
  • Clear local scenes and preferences in your browser

5. Cookies

Mock Band does not require an account or an access cookie. The app uses browser storage for scenes, preferences, the updates prompt state, a session-only feedback reference, and an anonymous PostHog identifier used to measure return use. This PostHog configuration uses localStorage rather than cookies.

6. Third-Party Services

Vercel hosts the site and provides Speed Insights. PostHog provides anonymous traffic and product-event analytics. MailerLite manages optional email subscriptions. Zoho Mail processes support and feedback messages you choose to send. Subscriber records and email content are not sent to PostHog; only the limited feedback-entry properties described above are recorded there. Audio generation, scenes, and WebMIDI run locally in your browser. Depending on your browser, speech recognition may be processed by the browser vendor or its speech service; consult your browser's privacy settings before enabling the microphone.

7. Children's Privacy

Mock Band is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here. We may also notify confirmed email subscribers when appropriate.
